Companies: The World Series Of Golf, Inc.
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — World Series of Golf, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: WSGF – News) today announced it has entered into a multi-year agreement with Compass Entertainment, LLC (www.compassentertainment.com) to produce a series of live events and television programs designed to increase participation in the World Series of Golf’s annual Las Vegas-based championship tournament and increase the company’s brand penetration in critical markets nationwide.

Under the terms of the agreement, Compass will organize, promote and produce an undisclosed number of live amateur golf tournaments that will serve as “satellite” or qualifying events for the annual World Series of Golf’s annual amateur-only championship (www.worldseriesofgolf.com). Las Vegas-based Compass also will produce and distribute the television and online content generated from the regional events as well as the championship tournament.

“This agreement will introduce the World Series of Golf playing experience to thousands of men and women seeking a uniquely exciting entertainment option,” said World Series of Golf Chief Executive Officer Joe Martinez. “Simultaneously, we expect it to increase our television and online footprint, establishing new revenue streams in the form of scalable advertising, licensing and sponsorship opportunities.”

World Series of Golf events are open to all amateur golfers age 21 and older. The proprietary method of play (www.worldseriesofgolf.com/overview.aspx) incorporates a $10,000 entry fee at the championship level. The regional satellites will feature a lower entry fee, with event winners receiving prizes that include a playing position in the annual Las Vegas championship tournament. A preliminary schedule of regional events will be released in upcoming weeks.

World Series of Golf players ante at each tee box; after teeing off in a pre-determined order, they have the option to call or raise the bets of competitors in their pairing or fold the hole. Players who fold lose any bets they have committed to the pot and rejoin play on the next hole. Players who remain in the action continue to bet prior to each subsequent shot, building the pot as they move from the tee to the green. The player who wins the hole – either by stroke count or by forcing his or her competitors to fold – wins the pot.

Players are eliminated when their purse – equivalent to their entry fee – is exhausted or so depleted they cannot pay the ante on the next tee. The number of rounds and pairings in each qualifying tournament will be determined by the number of event participants.

“We’re pleased to help bring the World Series of Golf to new markets around the country through this new satellite program,” said Compass Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Greg McDonald. “The one-of-a-kind format is sure to hold enormous appeal for golfing enthusiasts coast to coast.”

Compass, a diversified entertainment production and packaging concern, also produces unrelated events and television programs for Donald Trump’s United States Poker Championship, culminating with the USPC finals at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey, scheduled for Nov. 20, 2009. Its related concern publishes Rounder Magazine, found on-line, in casino poker rooms and book stores around the United States. (www.rounderlife.com) Rounder and Compass are headed by longtime entertainment industry executive McDonald, whose past affiliations include a long-term association with Elvis Presley and Colonel Tom Parker. McDonald also managed singer Rick Nelson during a lengthy career producing live concerts, television programs and motion pictures, including the poker-themed “Deal” starring Burt Reynolds, for which McDonald served as an executive producer.

From Jeff Egan – WSG is more than an event

Just received this email from Jeff Egan. Jeff is a true fan of the World Series of Golf. Jeff probably emails me once a week to comment or talk about the WSG. And I love it!

Jeff makes a great point in his note (see below) about the World Series of Golf being more than just a great golf event in Vegas…

Hey Joe. Sandy and I just got back from vegas this afternoon. We were out there to see U2 on Fri and it was FREAKING GREAT!!  The fantastic thing aboout the WSOG tourny is that it just keeps giving. While out there, I took Emily Jillette and her friend Keith to Shadow Creek and we had a blast.  Russel (Warye) and Mark (Ewing) were out there as well and as always, a good time was had by all. (Although I think Ewing better get some sleep.)  Emily took us to see the outstanding Penn & Teller show – which I highly reccomend to all the next time they’re in Vegas -  and then hung back stage w/ Penn for some lively conversation and fun.  The World Series of Golf is not a week event.  It is something way BIGGER than that.

Jeff, thanks again.

If anyone else has anything they’d like to share, just shoot me a note at jallen@worldseriesofgolf.com

John Daly to Join World Series of Golf®

as Vice President of Broadcast Operations

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 7, 2009) – Veteran television host and journalist John Daly has been named vice president of broadcast operations for the World Series of Golf (www.worldseriesofgolf.com).

Daly, best known as the longtime host of “Real TV,” will oversee all of the company’s television and Internet productions and serve as the event’s on-camera host and commentator. Daly also will create new television formats for the World Series of Golf game and act as a company spokesman.

“I played in the 2008 World Series of Golf and loved it so much that I had to join the company,” Daly joked. “I couldn’t ask for a job that better fits my skills and life-long passions. I have always dreamed of combining my broadcasting experience with my love of golf.”

A 20-year Las Vegas resident, Daly hosted “Real TV,” the first all-video news magazine program that was distributed by Paramount Domestic Television. The show is still running today and, at its peak in 1998, was averaging 4 million viewers per night. “Real TV” has aired in more than 30 countries.

Daly also has hosted “House Detective,” a home inspection show on HGTV. Before moving to national television, Daly was the main news anchor and newsroom managing editor for KTNV-TV in Las Vegas for six years. Three of the newscasts that Daly anchored won regional Emmy Awards.

“John is a true professional whose expertise will enhance our television product and help introduce our namesake event to an increasing audience through traditional broadcast and new media initiatives,” said World Series of Golf Chief Executive Officer Joe Martinez. “As we continue to build our corporate leadership team, John will play an integral role in the company’s future growth.”

The World Series of Golf is open to all amateur golfers age 21 and older. The proprietary method of play (www.worldseriesofgolf.com/overview.aspx) incorporates a $10,000 entry fee. Players ante at each tee box; after teeing off in a pre-determined order, they have the option to call or raise the bets of competitors in their pairing, or to fold the hole. Players who fold lose any bets they have committed to the pot and rejoin play on the next tee.

Players who remain in the action continue to bet prior to each subsequent shot, building the pot as they move from the tee to the green. The player who wins the hole – either by stroke count or by forcing his or her competitors to fold – wins the pot.

Players are eliminated when their $10,000 purse is exhausted or so depleted they cannot pay the ante on the next tee. Players who win their initial pairing advance to the tournament’s second round and recoup their $10,000 buy-in. Players who win their second-round pairing advance to the final round and are guaranteed a cash prize of at least $30,000. The winner of the event receives a cash prize of $300,000.

The Mirage Hotel & Casino (www.mirage.com) serves as the host hotel for the World Series of Golf.

Y.E. over Woods by 3

The stats apparently do lie. With Tiger in the lead coming into the final day at Hazeltine, he lost. It was something that has never happened before. Y.E. Yang not only broke that streak, he also became the first Asian to win a men’s major tournament. Congrats to Y.E. Yang.
