I received a very nice message today from Joseph Arena. Joseph is a beloved member of the World Series of Golf family. This guy knows how to enjoy himself, just ask anyone who’s ever met him. Here is his note:

To all of you at WSG,

I am writing to express how much fun I had and what a great experience the 2008 WSG event was. When I first was notified about an event that combined my passion for golf and the strategy of gambling, I must say I was intrigued.

When I decided to participate and flew down to Vegas for a practice round, (Get Acquainted Event) I was hooked.

The week of the event was fantastic. I arrived at the Mirage Hotel and was amazed at how professional the staff and its facilitators were. The golf courses at Paiute were immaculate and fair. The nighttime activities were fantastic. Every night was something special planned by WSG. The event itself was a lot of fun. What made it interesting to me was how fair and legitimate it was to actually have a chance at $250K. Even being grouped with the 2007 WSG Champion Mark Ewing did not discourage me at all. It’s all about making the right shots at the right time, combined with proper wagering. It really is anyone’s game regardless of ability; this rang true when I watched last years champion get knocked out by hole 9 of the first round. Even though I made poor decisions and didn’t advance to the next round, I still felt optimistic about entering the ’09 event.

That night, back at the hotel, I attended the Opening Night White Party by the Dolphin Habitat. It made me forget why I was there in the first place!

The director of the event Terry Leiweke and his entire staff, including Joe Allen, truly made me feel like I was on vacation with family and I can’t wait to attend the ’09 event in May.
