RHUMBAR Brings Cool Rum Cocktails, Haute Design to The Mirage

Stylish Rum Lounge and Patio is a Top Vegas Drink Spot

LAS VEGAS – Michael Frey and Craig Gilbert of Drive This! Entertainment have brought the cool mood of the Caribbean to sizzling Sin City. In early March, the company unveiled RHUMBAR at The Mirage, a rum lounge and outdoor patio designed by the New York-based firm Alvarez + Brock Design.

“RHUMBAR is a modern interpretation of classic Caribbean culture,” says Frey, managing partner of Drive This! Entertainment. “Through an eclectic soundtrack of lounge and world music and contemporary architecture, RHUMBAR delivers a distinctive atmosphere with a Latin vibe.”

Located near the main entrance of The Mirage just off the Las Vegas Strip, RHUMBAR sets the mood upon arrival. Blocks of slate tile line the entryway where a highly stylized frozen daiquiri bar features a chic counter with embedded mint leaves backlit with neon green lighting. The counter isn’t just a piece of art—it is fully functional and equipped to handle the large volume of guests that will walk by RHUMBAR every day.

Inspired by a minty mojito on a white beach overlooking a teal ocean, the design-centric concept encompasses 2,000 square feet and accommodates up to 100 guests. Like the sand on a Caribbean beach, white is the prevailing color at RHUMBAR, with touches of cool greens throughout. Abstract white mint leaves adorn the 20-foot-tall glass walls, luring the thousands of people walking by to take a peek inside. The arched ceiling displays 15 Jeff Koons-esque sculpted chrome fighting cocks encased in glass protruding from the wall above guests. Stylish cocktail servers and bartenders will serve an array of specialty rum cocktails, along with daiquiris and other classic libations. RHUMBAR also features a humidor offering an impressive cigar selection.

RHUMBAR wouldn’t be complete without its own tropical retreat. The spacious patio, framed by lush landscaping, is an oasis where guests can enjoy the atmosphere and stunning views of the Las Vegas Strip skyline.

RHUMBAR is the second hospitality and nightlife venture for Drive This! Entertainment, following T&T, the tacos and tequila mecca that opened at Luxor last summer. RHUMBAR will be open from 10 a.m. until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Mirage Comes to Life with Terry Fator and His Cast of Thousands

Celebrity Impressionist, Singer, Comedian & Ventriloquist Begins Performances February 14

LAS VEGAS – After entertaining millions of fans across the country with his highly successful tour, Terry Fator takes permanent residence at The Mirage with his new show Terry Fator & His Cast of Thousands. Winner of NBC’s 2007 season of “America’s Got Talent,” the celebrity impressionist, singer, comedian and ventriloquist has been perfecting his craft for 32 years, all to achieve his dream of becoming a Las Vegas Strip headliner. On February 14, 2009 Fator begins preview performances in the Terry Fator Theatre, with regularly scheduled performances beginning March 17, 2009.

“I’ve dreamed of having my own theater on The Strip for years,” said Terry Fator. “It is still hard to believe this is my reality, but it makes me grateful for the times I pushed on and never gave up.”

New impressions, new celebrity voices, new puppets and more laughs than ever – Terry Fator & His Cast of Thousands fills the stage with celebrity singing impressions and unparalleled ventriloquism, backed by a sizzling live band. Joining fan favorites Winston, the Impersonating Turtle, and the loveable Emma Taylor are two new puppet co-stars. Vikki, the hot-blooded “cougar,” and The Beatle, the original member of the legendary band, were created specifically for Fator’s all-new show at The Mirage.

Fator brings to life his puppet co-stars through comic banter and their hilarious takes on musical superstars. Throughout the show, Fator and his co-stars effortlessly perform the singing styles of an eclectic group of stars including Tony Bennett, Amy Winehouse, Elvis, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Garth Brooks, Nat King and Natalie Cole, Etta James, Gnarls Barkley, The Beatles, James Blunt, Brooks & Dunn, Pussycat Dolls, Louis Armstrong, Fergie and even Kermit The Frog.

In addition to his win on “America’s Got Talent,” Fator has performed to rave reviews on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.” In December 2008, Terry released his first book Who’s the Dummy Now? a candid autobiography chronicling his life from teenage ventriloquist to Las Vegas Strip headliner.

Last Monday the 23rd of February we had the first Get Acquainted Event of 2009. There was a fantastic turnout. All played great and had a better time. Here is a quick note from January Jones:

I was a little nervous playing in the World Series of Golf practice Get Acquainted event but once it got going I had the best time ever. It really is a format that any player at any level can have fun with and I even won a few holes which was amazing and astounding!  Everyone was was so friendly, so helpful and so encouraging. The format is all about strategy and how to maximize your skills at the right time for the right amount. Believe me, it’s more fun than real golf because you can fold whenever you’ve hit a crummy shot.
The World Series of Golf is the perfect format for all “Chronologically Challenged Competitors” of all ages and at all stages of life.
