Hello everyone. Todays blog is about a 2009 WSG player and his reason for competing in this years event. Keith Landberg decided to play in this years event for one main reason; to spread the word of SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy).

Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a motor neuron disease. The motor neurons affect the voluntary muscles that are used for activities such as crawling, walking, head and neck control, and swallowing. 1 in 6000 babies born are affected, and about 1 in 40 people are genetic carriers. SMA affects muscles throughout the body. Weakness in the legs is generally greater than in the arms. Sometimes feeding and swallowing can be affected. Involvement of respiratory muscles can lead to an increased tendency for pneumonia and other lung problems. Sensation and the ability to feel are not affected. Intellectual activity is normal and it is often observed that patients with SMA are unusually bright and sociable.

The Mirage Welcomes A Baby Leopard Cub To Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden And Dolphin Habitat
Las Vegas – The Mirage welcomes its newest addition to Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat – Java, a seven-week-old male baby leopard. The brown and black spotted cub is on display in a special nursery created for him in the Secret Garden. Java is born to Asabi, his Asian mother and Mu-gamba, his African father.
“We named him Java after one of the most exotic coffee beans in the world from the island of Java in Indonesia. Our espresso leopard proudly displays hundreds of spots and joins his older siblings, brother Neruda and sisters Leni and Ibasa and their parents in the Secret Garden.”
“He is now almost seven pounds and 26 inches in length. We call him the newest ambassador of the Siegfried & Roy Family in the Secret Garden,” said Siegfried.

“In this corner, from Penrose, Colorado, weighing in at One Hundred and enough pounds to par the back nine… KEN “I’LL TELL YOU WHEN I’M READY” TANNER”
“And in this corner, from Mt. Airy, Maryland, weighing in at One Hundred and a shark fin on his back… BILL “THE SHARK” STRAYTON…”
Bill Strayton and Ken Tanner (not related) came out for the March “Get Acquainted” event this year (in separate cars) with one goal in mind. Play the format and continue to master the intricacies. Bill came out firing at Ken, who while still in his cart, defended his first year finalist spot with grace and style, and a great 7 iron!
The Competition Heats Up…

Bill followed up and really took it to Ken, but all ended up just fine. They settled their differences just before the had to tee off and had a great time. We don’t encourage scrapping during our event, betting, of course. So I leave you all with one question, “Can’t we all just get along?”
